44 Years of Artists in the Quarantine Facility Rotterdam – Book Publication

The National Monument Quarantine Facility on Heijplaat was built in 1934 and has since had many functions, from a refugee shelter to a nursing home. In 1979 the complex became an important workplace and residence for artists. In 2024, this function ended; the plan is to develop the site into a hotel and conference center. We are now documenting the rich history of the Quarantine Facility in a book that will be presented in 2026 during Rotterdam Architecture Month. read more
